>>Griner Faces Up To 10 Years In Prison After Guilty Plea

(Moscow)  —  WNBA star Brittney Griner faces up to a decade behind bars after pleading guilty during her trial in Russia.  She entered her plea while saying she “didn’t want to break the law.”  The Phoenix Mercury star stood accused of having under a gram of cannabis oil in her luggage when she was arrested at the airport in Moscow back in February.  Another hearing is set for next Thursday.

>>Raiders Hire Sandra Douglass Morgan As Team President

(Las Vegas, NV)  —  The Raiders are breaking new ground for an NFL front office.  Las Vegas announced on Thursday it’s hired Sandra Douglass Morgan to be its new team president.  Morgan becomes the first ever Black woman to hold that title for an NFL franchise.  She joins the team after working as the chairwoman and executive director of the Nevada Gaming Control Board.  Raiders owner Mark Davis said in a statement that Morgan’s “experience, integrity and passion for this community will be invaluable to our organization.”

>>NHL Draft Round One Recap

(Undated)  —  The first round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft is complete.  Slovakian forward Juraj [[ ur-EYE ]] Slafkovsky was selected first overall by the Montreal Canadiens.  Fellow Slovakian Simon Nemec went second to the New Jersey Devils.  Logan Cooley went third overall to the Arizona Coyotes, and the Seattle Kraken selected Shane Wright with the fourth pick. Rounds two through seven will take place today.

>>Predators Select Winger In N-H-L Draft

(Montreal)  —  The Predators are coming away from round one of the N-H-L draft with a Winger.  The team selected Joakim Kemell with the 17th pick in last night’s draft.  The five-foot-11 sniper netted 15 goals and had 23 points this past season in the Finnish league.  Rounds two-through-seven begin this morning at 10:00.

>>Wimbledon Day Eleven Recap

(London)  —  One major player is withdrawing from the Semifinals at Wimbledon.  Second-seeded Rafael Nadal was forced to exit the tournament after dealing with a torn abdominal muscle.  Nadal had played through the injury, before aggravating it in his victory over Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals.  Nick Kyrgios [[ KEER-ee-oss ]] advanced to his first ever Grand Slam final as a result.

>>Cameron Tringale Leads Scottish Open

(North Berwick, Scotland)  —  Cameron Tringale is atop the leaderboard after the first round of the Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick.  Tringale shot a nine under 61 in the opening round of the tournament.  Gary Woodland is three strokes back of the leader at six under par.  Justin Harding finished the first round in third after shooting a 65.  Three players are tied for fourth place.

>>NASCAR Heads To Atlanta On Sunday

(Hampton, GA)  —  The NASCAR Cup Series returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Quaker State 400 presented by Walmart on Sunday.  Tyler Reddick is entering the race with plenty of momentum after his first career win at Road America this past Sunday.  It’s the second race of the year at Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Cup Series.  William Byron won the first race earlier in the spring.

>>Nashville S-C Travels To Charlotte For League Match Tomorrow

(Charlotte, NC)  —  Nashville S-C travels to Charlotte tomorrow for a league match.  The club has earned eight points in their last five games while Charlotte has gotten seven points in their last five.  Nashville is sixth in the West with 27 points while Charlotte is eighth in the East with 23.  Kickoff is at 6:00 tomorrow night.

>>Two Bengals Legends Progress To Hall Of Fame Semis

(Canton, OH)  —  Two Bengals legends are progressing to the Hall of Fame Senior semifinalist round.  Defensive Back Ken Riley and Quarterback Ken Anderson are joined by 23 other candidates that voters will select for potential induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  Riley ranks second all-time in interceptions with 65 while Anderson started for the team against the 49ers in Super Bowl 16.  Twelve players will move on to the next round after a vote at the end of the month.
