Cardinals, Reds and Cubs Recap

>>Cardinals Beat Braves In 11th

(Atlanta, GA)  —  The Cardinals are back in the win column following a 3-2 win in 11 innings over the Braves at Truist Park.  Dylan Carlson hit an RBI single in the top of the frame, and Packy Naughton pitched a perfect inning in the bottom of the inning to earn his first save.  Juan Yepez and Albert Pujols each drove in a run, and Ryan Helsley picked up his fifth win in relief.  St. Louis snaps a four-game losing streak with the victory.  The Cardinals still trail the Brewers by two-and-a-half games in the NL Central race with a 45-and-40 record.  Adam Wainwright starts for St. Louis when they host the Phillies tonight.

>>Reds Split Double-Header With Pittsburgh

(Cincinnati, OH)  —  The Reds are splitting a double-header with the Pirates.  The team dropped game one 4-2 after Michael Chavis drove two runs home for the Pirates in the sixth inning to take the lead.  Cincy bounced back and won game two 5-1 after Jonathan India, Brandon Drury, and Thommy Pham each drove in runs as the team put up a four-spot in the bottom of the seventh.  The home-stand continues for Cincy as they host the Rays tonight in the first of a three-game series.

>>Cubs Lose To Dodgers

(Los Angeles, CA)  —  The Cubs couldn’t come back from an early four-run deficit during a 5-3 loss to the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.  Mark Leiter Jr. dropped to 2-and-3 after surrendering four runs in five innings.  Christian Morel hit his ninth home run in the losing effort.  The Cubs fall to 34-and-49 with the loss, and they send Keegan Thompson to the mound against the Dodgers tonight.  Meanwhile, the club got some good news about Kyle Hendricks.  The starting pitcher will not need surgery after his MRI results showed no structural damage on a right shoulder injury that he suffered on Tuesday.
