Three men, two from Hopkinsville and a third formerly of Christian County, have been indicted by a federal grand jury with firearms related offenses.
According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney of the Western District of Kentucky’s Office, 43-year-old Shaun Powers of Hopkinsville was indicted for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, illegal possession of a machine gun, and possession of an unregistered firearm, that is, a weapon made from a shotgun having a barrel length of less than 18 inches.
Thiry-year-old Cleve Nedd of Hopkinsville was indicted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, while 22-year-old Anthony Jones currently of Indianapolis and formerly of Christian County, was charged with engaging in the business of dealing firearms, 5 counts of making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm, transferring a firearm to an out of state resident, and illegal possession of a machine gun.
Powers and Jones are in federal custody pending trial while Nedd is scheduled to appear in court on July 28.
If convicted at trial, the defendants each face up to 10 years in federal prison and there is no parole in the federal system.
