Longtime Christian County Deputy Clerk Melinda Humphries is one step closer to leading that office, as she defeated Erica Newby by about 800 votes to win the Republican primary.
Humphries says she’ll continue to campaign on making the clerk’s office more accessible to the public.
Humphries will face Democratic Christian County Treasurer Walter Cummings in the November general election.
