N. Kentucky Avenue murder suspect released on ankle monitor as DNA testing conducted

The woman charged in connection with a fatal shooting on North Kentucky Avenue in 2020 will be released on an ankle monitor following a hearing in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday.

Larayna Manning—who is charged with murder in the death of Calvin “Cue” Taylor—appeared alongside new public defender Doug Moore and Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling. Boling informed the court that DNA testing is complete on the bulk of the hairs found on duck tape that was located on the victim’s body, and most of those hairs were identified as his.  However, two of the hairs did not match the victim, and Boling says further testing is being conducted on those to see who they belong too.

That testing could take possibly several months, but Judge Andrew Self hesitated to vacate the trial date of August 8, in the hope it’ll be done by that time.  In the meantime, he did grant a request from the defense that will allow Manning to post ten percent of her cash bond and be released on an ankle monitor.  He reiterated to Manning that this will be a very strict home incarceration.

Along with murder, Manning is also charged with first-degree robbery— drugs, cash and a safe were missing from Taylor’s home when police began the investigation and police say Taylor’s mouth and wrists were duct-taped, indicating there had been a robbery.

Her son and co-defendant, Anthony Manning, has already entered an Alford plea to charges of facilitation to complicity to commit murder and first-degree facilitation to complicity to commit robbery, for his role in the incident.
