Christian County completed the sweep of the 8th district with a 14-0/5 inning win over University Heights. The Colonels scored twice in the first and six times in the second and third innings. Carter Sholar went three for three with five RBI for the Colonels with Gage Montes getting the complete game two hit shutout. Nic Luckey had the only two hits for the Blazers as Eston Glover took the pitching loss. Christian County is now 20-3 and concludes district play 6-0. University Heights is now 11-11/2-2 in district games.
The Hopkinsville Tigers plated three runs in the sixth inning and added three more in the seventh to see Union County come back and score five times in the bottom of the seventh before hanging on for a 6-5 victory. Joseph Boor had two of the Tigers six hits with Preston Chadouin going six innings, allowing no runs and struck out nine. The Tigers are now 8-10 on the season.
Saturday’s Games: Christian County hosts a doubleheader welcoming Henderson County at noon and Marshall County around 3 pm.
