Gov looking at options for legalizing medical cannabis

The Kentucky General Assembly did not legalize medical marijuana during the recently completed 2022 session and now Governor Andy Beshear says he’s looking into what steps the Executive Branch can take to move forward in that direction.

During his Team Kentucky update Thursday, the governor announced he’s analyzing what options he has regarding executive orders.

He will also establish a Governor’s Medical Cannabis Advisory Team made up of people from across the state to study the issue and gather information.

That team will travel Kentucky and make at least four stops to hear from the public on their thoughts on medical marijuana.

Kentuckians can also email comments to that team at GovMedicalCannabisAdvisoryTeam@ky.gov.
