April is Fair Housing Month across the nation and the proclamation reading was held Tuesday afternoon in Hopkinsville declaring it so.
Mayor Wendell Lynch was joined by representatives from the Hopkinsville Human Rights Commission, with Raychel Fort-Farmer accepting the proclamation and saying they, and others, continue to push for fair housing for everyone, and they’ll be having events later in the month to spread education about the initiative.
Mayor Lynch says the right to fair housing is something that belongs to everyone, and this is a way to remind that there is still work to be done.
The Human Rights Commission says its their goal to make unfair housing a thing of the past—for more information about what advocacy opportunities are available or Fair Housing Month, call the HRC at (270) 887-4010.
