Hopkinsville woman charged with arson

A Hopkinsville woman has been charged with first-degree arson in relation to a house fire on East 18th Street Thursday night.

According to the Hopkinsville Police Department report, officers and fire fighters responded to reports of a house fire in the 300 block of East 18th where a fire had been started at both the front and rear doors to the residence. The fires were quickly extinguished with only moderate damage done.

Investigation led to the arrest of 38-year-old Irean Coleman of Hopkinsville, who allegedly used a lighter to intentionally start the fires to the doors. She reportedly admitted to damaging the front door to officers.

She is charged with first-degree arson and is lodged in the Christian County Jail.
