Flooding will be possible with heavy rain events this week

Two bouts of heavy rain are in the forecast for western Kentucky and middle Tennessee this week raising concerns about potential flooding.

The ground is already saturated from last week’s heavy rain and the National Weather Service in Paducah says the southern Pennyrile region—including Christian, Todd and Trigg counties—could see three to four inches of rain Monday night and Tuesday and another couple inches Wednesday night and Thursday.

River flooding and rises in water levels in creeks and tributaries will be possible with the heavy rain, in addition to flooding in all of the usual places.

Stay tuned to the WHOP Family of Stations for any potential flood watches or warnings and motorists encountering standing water are reminded—turn around, don’t drown.
