HPD arrests Clarksville man for auto theft, leaving scene of accident

Hopkinsville police arrested a Clarksville man on felony auto theft and other charges Thursday afternoon after he allegedly stole his mother’s vehicle and crashed it twice before fleeing on foot.

Officers were called to a theft of a vehicle in progress at Crown Services on Skyline Drive just after noon and determined it had been wrecked at East Ninth Street and the Bypass. Police say he also hit a parked vehicle at Crown Services while leaving that facility.

No one was around the vehicle and police found 27-year old Judge Jefferson of Clarksville walking near Cayce Mill and he was relatively dry to be walking in the rain, according to the report.

His mother confirmed Jefferson was who took her vehicle without permission and he was arrested.

Jefferson was charged with felony auto theft, leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a suspended license.
