Todd Fiscal Court approves agreement for Guthrie to annex Novelis expansion property

Todd Fiscal Court approved a measure Friday morning allowing the City of Guthrie to annex 51 acres of land that will be home to the upcoming Novelis expansion.

Novelis recently announced they’ll be creating 140 new jobs with the $365 million investment and expansion on property near their current site on Old Railroad Lane.

Todd Fiscal Court later approved a bond resolution for up to $1.6 million for purchase of a 51 acre tract of land that will be deeded to Novelis and Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield says the annexation agreement approved unanimously by magistrates Friday morning is just the next necessary step.

Judge Mansfield noted the opening of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet driver’s license office in Hopkinsville that Todd County residents can utilize and says he’s been told there will be a one-day pop-up office, likely in April, in Elkton for residents to be able to renew their credential or apply for a REAL ID without having to leave the county.

Fiscal court approved a $1,500 donation to the Burden Bearers chaplain service to allow two of their members to attend additional training and approved the purchase of a $161,000 roll-off truck that will be used by the Waste Management department.
