Lt. Governor presents funding to benefit water and sewer systems in Christian County

Kentucky Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman made a stop in Hopkinsville Wednesday morning to present funding that will go towards improving and expanding water and sewer service in Christian County.

Lt. Governor Coleman presented checks in the amount of $1.1 million to the Christian County Water District, $1.1 million to the Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority and $268,835 to the City of Oak Grove. She says funding like this not only benefits citizens directly, but also paves the way for future growth.

Christian County Water District Chair Ashbel Brunson says the funding will help make their systems better and from there, better serve the community.

HWEA President and CEO Derrick Watson says there are three main projects their money will go towards, including improving environmental safety and up-to-date technology.

Oak Grove Mayor Theresa Jarvis says this will allow them to update some infrastructure that is considerably aged and they’re grateful for the funding.

Christian County Judge-Executive Steven Tribble and Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch also expressed their thanks. The money is part of the $250 million Cleaner Water Program from the Better Kentucky Plan.
