Manslaughter suspect enters guilty plea to amended charge

Joshua Long, who had originally been charged with complicity to second-degree manslaughter, entered a guilty plea to amended charge in connection with a fatal overdose that occurred in January of 2021.

Long entered a guilty plea to the amended charge of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, which came with a recommended sentence of three years—Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jerad Smith says the victim’s family was agreeable to the resolution, and that the possession charge is more appropriate based on the facts of the case.

As part of the deal, Long must testify against his co-defendant in the case—Seth Henderson, who is still charged with manslaughter.  Judge Andrew Self accepted his guilty plea and sentenced him to three years, with two of those years to be diverted.

Long and Henderson were accused of selling narcotics to 23-year old Corbin Bowling of Crofton, who would reportedly die of a drug overdose in early 2021.
