Gov. declares state of emergency in anticipation of icy weather

As the majority of Kentucky braces for impact of winter weather, Governor Andy Beshear has already declared a state of emergency in preparation for the event that will likely create widespread travel issues.

The governor urged people to be prepared as possible, as even small amounts of ice can cause real issues from travel to power outages, and he urged people to stay off the roads if they can.

Kentucky Emergency Management Director Michael Dossett says this has the potential to be an ‘epic’ storm.

All state office buildings have been closed in anticipation of the event, and the governor also issued an executive order to protect Kentuckians from price gouging that can occur during an emergency with goods and services like gasoline, food and household items.
