School board approves multiple high school consolidation project items

The Christian County School Board approved multiple items in relation to the consolidated high school project at Thursday evening’s meeting.

One of those items included, approved unanimously, the next phase of the Ford Next Generation Learning Model to envision the career academy transformation, which Assistant Superintendent Jessica Addison says will focus on deepening community wide understanding of the benefits of the change to secondary school in the region and develop systems and structures needed to implement the academy style education plan.

Phase 1 has already been complete, with the approval Thursday entering into Phase 2. Addison says the funding for the Ford program is part of the ESSER funding they’re using for the project and also helps hold the administration accountable to the promises they’ve made to the community.

In other action, the board approved the design development for the high school project, with Architect Jack Faber saying they hope to have that approved by the Kentucky Department of Education very soon, so they can move on to the next step in the process.

The board also unanimously approved listing the 26 acres of land at Country Club Lane near Lafayette Road as surplus property, along with a revised BG-1 for the consolidation project in the amount of approximately $117.3 million.
