Governor Andy Beshear is proposing an additional $2 billion in education funding in Kentucky.
At a morning news conference, Beshear called his budget proposal “the largest single investment in K-thru-12 education in our history.”
It would fund universal pre-K for all 4-year-olds, as well as full-day kindergarten.
The proposal also includes a 12.5 percent increase in SEEK funding and a minimum 5% salary increase for all school employees.
He also wants to spend $26 million a year for a student loan forgiveness program to help retain teachers.
Beshear will present his budget proposal to the General Assembly on Thursday.
