Proceedings continued for suspect in East 13th St. attempted murder case

Proceedings were continued in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday morning for 26-year old Anthony Dyson of Hopkinsville, the man charged with attempted murder for a January 1, 2021 shooting incident on East 13th Street.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling told Judge John Atkins he’s waiting on an affidavit from a recent interview of a potential witness by defense attorney Marc Wells before deciding how to proceed.

Judge Atkins agreed to the continuance and set another hearing for February 23.

Two Hopkinsville police officers were responding to a report of shots fired in the 200 block of East 13th Street just after midnight on New Year’s Day last year and found a man holding a gun standing on the front porch of a home.

Dyson is accused of being that man who allegedly took off running and fired two shots—with one going through a civilian vehicle and striking the rear of the occupied unmarked HPD cruiser.
