Rain appears to be the name of the game for the rest of week for western Kentucky and surrounding areas, before temperatures drop greatly this weekend.
In a conference call Monday, Meteorologist Mike York with the National Weather Service in Paducah says the greatest chances for heavy rain will be Tuesday and Saturday, but they’re not expecting any flooding issues at this time. There is a chance for storms in the weekend, but York says the intensity of any storms that develop or where they might do so remains uncertain.
At the present, things seem to be trending more southward, with values lower and conditions different compared to the storm systems that occurred on December 10, but they’ll be keeping a close eye on it.
After that cold front moves through, York says get ready for it to finally feel like winter, as noticeably colder temperatures move in.
York says people may even see some snow as the rain moves out and the cold moves in, but no impacts from that are expected at this time.
