The National Weather Service has confirmed it was an EF1 tornado that caused damage early Monday morning in Todd County.
The 100-yard wide twister had maximum winds of 90 mph and was on the ground for 8.3 miles from four miles west-northwest of Elkton to five miles east-northeast of Elkton between 4:33 and 4:42 a.m.
Three homes were damaged on Pond River Road, several older barns were damaged or destroyed, many large trees were uprooted or snapped and two semi trailers were flipped over.
There were no injuries or fatalities reported in the tornado.
