The Christian County School Board approved a calendar revision during a special called meeting Thursday afternoon that extends the upcoming Thanksgiving break by two days.
Director of Pupil Personnel Melanie Barrett says those days—November 22 and 23—are known for having low attendance as is due to people traveling for the holiday, and even taking that Monday and Tuesday off it will still meet state requirements.
Board Chair Tom Bell says the extra days off are a good idea, as a thank you for both their students and staff for their hard work and giving them all a chance to come back recharged.
The extra two non-education days for CCPS students will not require additional student attendance days to be added to the 2021-2022 school calendar. In the event of inclement weather, CCPS has one available snow day and, if required, can utilize Non-Traditional Instruction days.
The calendar revision was the only item on the special called meeting’s agenda.
