School Board could move forward with land purchase, construction for consolidated high school

The Christian County School Board on Thursday night is scheduled to discuss and possibly vote on the purchase of land and construction of the new consolidated high school.

An amended agenda emailed to local media Wednesday afternoon includes discussion and possible approval of a purchase agreement  between the Board of Education and Associated Ventures, LLC for 87 acres of land at Fort Campbell Boulevard and Lovers Lane at a cost of $6 million. The purchase would be subject to the likely approval of the Kentucky Department of Education.

The closing of the agreement, if approved, would have to take place by the end of this year.

Discussion and possible approval of a BG-1 for construction of the consolidated high school is also included on the advanced agenda, with total construction cost estimated at $97,227,340.

The board could also approve an agreement with JKS Architecture for the project.

The meeting is set for 6 p.m. Thursday at the central office on Glass Avenue and will be streamed on the district’s YouTube page.
