Hopkinsville man arrested on assault, gun charges

An investigation outside a hotel on Harvey Way early this morning led to the arrest of a man on assault and gun charges.

Hopkinsville police received a call of a woman possibly being assaulted outside Comfort Suites and an arrest citation says officers found the female victim with a bloody lip and swollen eyebrow and 41-year old Nicholas Starks of Hopkinsville standing near a car.

The victim was reportedly hesitant to talk to police out of fear it would make her situation worse and the report says Starks yelled “Look what you’re doing to me,” as he was led to the police cruiser.

A search of Starks allegedly revealed a handgun in his pants leg that had been reported stolen in Hopkins County.

Starks is charged with fourth-degree assault—dating violence, tampering with a witness, receiving a stolen firearm and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
