A combination of COVID cases being down and implementation of the Test to Stay program appears to have the Christian County Public School System on track to keep students in buildings for the remainder of the year.
There were only 27 active student cases in the district as of Thursday afternoon and five active faculty and staff cases. There were 17 total in-school close contact quarantines.
Superintendent Chris Bentzel says he’s encouraged by the numbers.
He says more than 100 students each week have been going to Christian County Middle School early in the morning to be tested for COVID to avoid quarantining when they are a close in-school contact to someone who’s positive.
Bentzel has been meeting with school leaders about implementing the district’s five-year strategic plan.
No school currently has more than six active student COVID cases.
