Mike Shildt is out as manager of the St. Louis Cardinals. The 53-year-old Shildt managed the Redbirds for four seasons and went 252-199 and led the Cardinals to a miraculous run the second half of this season, but St. Louis lost in the NL Wild Card game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Cardinals were second in the NL Central with a 90-72 record. Cardinals president John Mozeliak said he fired Shildt due to a “philosophical difference” in the direction of the team. Shildt had one year left on his contract.
