Hopkinsville man charged with DUI, leaving the scene of accident

A Hopkinsville man is facing numerous charges after he reportedly struck a utility pole on Blaine Drive and drove through multiple yards while allegedly under the influence.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers responded to Blaine Drive around 10:34 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a crash, but the suspect vehicle left the scene prior to their arrival. Investigation determined the vehicle had struck a telephone pole, knocking both bumpers off the vehicle, meaning officers were able to identify the owner of it due to the license plate being left behind.

Officers located 36-year-old Michael Frazier of Hopkinsville parked in the driveway of a residence on Hickory Ridge Circle, allegedly still sitting in the suspected vehicle. He reportedly had a strong odor of alcohol on his person and performed poorly on field sobriety tests—he allegedly blew a .171on a breathalyzer test.

He was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, second-offense DUI, driving on a DUI suspended license and failure to maintain insurance.
