Eugene Poole Jr. named to UK Hall of Distinguished Alumni

Hopkinsville High School graduate and renowned architect Eugene Poole Jr. has been selected as a member of the 2020 class of the University of Kentucky Hall of Distinguished Alumni.

According to a news release, Poole graduated from HHS in 1978, Hopkinsville Community College in 1980 with an Associate in Science, and the University of Kentucky in1985 with a B.A. in Architecture, College of Design.  He now serves as the jurisdiction executive and the senior project executive of the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.

He is an architect and certified project construction manager whose work includes Air Force defense initiatives and Joint Air Force/Navy, and Air Force/Army Mil-Con construction projects overseas and within the United States. Poole is a decorated former United States Air Force officer.

Besides his degrees from HCC and UK, he holds bachelor’s degrees and four master’s degrees from George Washington University and Maples Springs Baptist Bible College and Seminary. Poole is currently a 4.0 Doctoral candidate studying Eastern/Western religion philosophy and spiritual counseling at the Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, D.C.

Poole will be inducted into the 2020 UK Hall of Distinguished Alumni on October 1.
