The Pennryile Walk to End Alzheimer’s returns Saturday morning to the Christian County Justice Center in Hopkinsville and officials are offering a hybrid model of participation.
Martha Argotte is the chair of this year’s event and says they’ll be having an in-person walk that starts with a ceremony at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, but attendees are welcome to come and start their walk early before the ceremony if they wish to spread out more due to the pandemic.
She says they will have the promise garden ceremony, representing and honoring caretakers, family members, those fighting Alzheimer’s and those who have been lost—all way striving to raise money to hopefully fund research that one day finds a cure.
People can also participate in the walk virtually by registering online at act.alz.org/pennyrile and selecting the virtual option that will let them participate from anywhere.
Those interested in donating can also do so at any time just by texting ‘51555’ with the message 2ENDALZ—Argotte says they hope to raise $40,000 to help care takers, fund research and further advocacy efforts.
