Suspect takes plea deal in East First Street fatal shooting

A plea deal was reached Thursday morning in the case of 21-year-old Tyresse Hollowell of Hopkinsville for his involvement in the August, 2020 shooting death of Tiffany Hinton Gray on East First Street.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling said the deal has Hollowell pleading guilty of complicity to reckless homicide, first-degree wanton endangerment and attempting to engage in organized crime and it comes with a recommended five-year sentence.

The Commonwealth opposes probation and public defender Doug Moore asked Judge John Atkins to waive formal sentencing, as Hollowell has already served enough time to be parole eligible.

Judge Atkins accepted the deal and sentenced Hollowell to five years in prison.

The shooting in the early morning hours of August 14, 2020 left Hinton Gray dead and sent 17-year old Kanina Willingham to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries.
