Dayton Jones expected to enter guilty plea in federal court

Dayton Jones, who had his sentence vacated by former Governor Matt Bevin for the 2014 sexual assault of a 15-year-old male at a party on Lafayette Road, is expected to change his plea to guilty to his child porn charge in federal court next month.

The October 20 docket includes a change of plea hearing for the 27-year-old Jones, who’s charged with one count of producing child sex abuse material.

Jones was one of four suspects who pled guilty for their roles in the sexual assault of the teen. The assault was recorded on a smartphone and distributed on SnapChat.

His current charge includes a mandatory minimum 15-year sentence in federal prison. The maximum potential penalties are 30 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and supervised release of five years up to and including life.
