The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library is teaming up with Christian County Public Schools and Indian Hills Elementary School in a new ‘pilot program’ that would let the library provide support to the school.
According to a news release, Indian Hills Principal Sarah Sweeney Johnson worked with Indian Hills staff to find the best way for the partnership to be most effective and while it’s still a work in progress, is it the hope that it will include programs for all grades of students to learn from, STEAM activities, personalized book bundle kits, interactive programs that the library as access to, outreach programs and more. HCCPL would like to see this one-on-one partnership eventually implemented at all schools in Christian County.
Principal Sweeney Johnson says, “Indian Hills Elementary is excited for the opportunity to partner with Hopkinsville Christian County Public Library for expanded learning opportunities in literacy outside of the school setting for students, families and all faculty this 2021-2022 school year. This partnership will allow us to promote a love for reading and an exposure to the library to help build on our students’ literacy foundation.”
