Indictments for murder returned by grand jury

A Christian County Grand Jury returned indictments for murder against two Hopkinsville men Friday, in connection to two separate incidents.

Indicted for first-degree murder is 39-year old Leon Grimes of Hopkinsville, who is accused of fatally shooting Calvin Buckner in the chest at a party on Hazel Street in July. He is lodged in the Christian County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

 

 

 

Thirty-six year old Mory Burse of Hopkinsville was indicted for first-degree murder and possession of handgun by a convicted felon. He is alleged to have used a 9 mm handgun to shoot 48-year-old Devon Kendrick of Hopkinsville multiple times in the torso and arms just before midnight Wednesday at a location behind the East Ninth Street Dollar General on Sharpe Street.

Kendrick was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where he died from his injuries several hours later.

Burse is lodged in the Christian County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
