Positivity rate up, Ky. adds 30 COVID deaths

The positivity rate is now above 14 percent in Kentucky, as Governor Andy Beshear announced 4,468 new cases and 30 new deaths Wednesday.

Governor Beshear says they had been hopeful the positivity rate would continue to decrease, but the jump to 14.16 percent proves that the virus is still very much active and deadly, as one of the 30 deaths he reported is a 15-year-old from Shelby County.

He once again pleaded for everyone to get vaccinated and to wear a facial covering while indoors, and to wear a mask even if you have already gotten the shot.

On the COVID-19 state incidence rate map, 117 Kentucky counties remain labelled as ‘red’, including Christian, Todd, Trigg and surrounding counties.  There are currently 2,424 people in the hospital with COVID, 674 in the ICU and 431 on a ventilator.
