Pair of eagles released back into Christian Co. following rehabilitation

Two bald eagles have been released back into the wild in Christian County, following months of treatment and recovery at Raptor Rehabilitation of Kentucky, Inc.

The eagles were found on the Bruce farms off of Fort Campbell Boulevard in June, with rehabilitator Tiffany Dicks saying they were found in bad health about a week apart from each other, and it turned out that they were a bonded male and female.  They were able to determine that the eagles were suffering from several types of poison, including lead poisoning, and she says they almost didn’t survive.

After extensive treatment for each poisoning and parasites, the eagles made a full recovery and even helped ‘foster’ two baby eagles that were at the rehabilitation facility.

An extensive search of the farm and surrounding areas was conducted in June to make sure there were no nests or baby eagles that were missing the parents, and none were found.

Dicks says Raptor Rehabilitation of Kentucky, Inc. has been nursing birds of prey back to health for over 30 years, and they could always use more donations to help keep the care of these animals going.

Once released from their crates and taken to the air, the eagles soon landed in some nearby trees, as a crowd of admirers and nature enthusiasts cheered and prayed for them to have long, healthy lives.
