Ky. gains 4,638 COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations up

Kentucky gained 4,638 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, one of the highest single day totals since the pandemic began.

Governor Andy Beshear also reported 17 new deaths and a positivity rate of 12.89 percent, saying that hospitalizations increased alarmingly in a single day, as did the number of those in the ICU and on a ventilator.

He urged Kentuckians to get the vaccine to help protect themselves and others, and to continue masking while indoors in public places.

Nearly the entire state of Kentucky is labelled as ‘red’ on the state incidence rate map, with only Robertson County remaining ‘orange’.
