Local inmate walks away after work detail, arrested within a few hours

A Christian County Jail inmate who walked away from the facility was arrested overnight.

Jailer Brad Hewell says 43-year-old Brandon Lee of Hopkinsville was returned by his supervisor after being out on a work detail and he said he was going to smoke a cigarette before going inside. The supervisor didn’t wait to be sure he went back in and Lee walked away.

He was later located still in the city and arrested early Tuesday morning.

Lee is facing a new charge of second-degree escape and he was already in jail for multiple felony probation violation charges.
