Positivity rate continues to climb, 1,618 new COVID cases reported in Kentucky

The positivity rate continues to climb in Kentucky as health officials reported 1,618 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday.

The positivity rate is now at 8.55 percent, and there were two new deaths reported, putting the death toll since the pandemic began at 7,327.  To date, approximately 2.2 million Kentuckians have been vaccinated against the virus, with officials urging those who haven’t been to get the shot as soon as possible to protect themselves against the more contagious Delta variant.

There are now 608 individuals in the hospital with COVID-19, 189 in the ICU and 82 on a ventilator.  On the state incidence rate map, Christian and Todd counties are listed as ‘orange’, Trigg county is now ‘yellow’ and Logan, Muhlenberg and Hopkins counties are listed as ‘red’.
