The Hopkinsville Division of Parks and Recreation has selected Taylor Duke as the new Marketing-Events Coordinator for the Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex, the Recreation Department and Public Works.
Duke previously worked as a reporter for the Kentucky New Era and now in her new role, her primary responsibility will be developing social media, marketing and sales for the Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Hopkinsville Sportsplex as well as all other Parks and Recreation events and facilities. She will work out of the Sportsplex offices and will also serve as a Public Information Officer for the city’s Public Works Department.
Duke says, “Simply put, I am excited. As a semi-new Hopkinsvillian, I can see why so many love to call Hopkinsville home. Every day I continue to work and live here, I fall a little more in love with this city. Taking on this role with Parks and Recreation and the Sportsplex is a dream. I’m ecstatic to be part of the effort that is moving to make Hoptown a more exciting place to live and visit.”
Duke is originally from the San Francisco Bay area of California and has a sports background from her collegiate career at University of the Cumberlands and is an award-winning journalist from her time as editor of the school newspaper, The Patriot.
Duke was selected from a field of 39 applicants from five states that included 12 from Hopkinsville. The finalists were asked to create a unique event and prepare a comprehensive marketing plan to support the event.
She will begin her duties with Parks and Recreation on August 2.
