Ky. sees spike in COVID-19 cases, 933 newly reported Thursday

Kentucky has seen a recent spike in COVID-19, and that continued Thursday with the state gaining 933 new cases.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear blames the rise in cases and positivity rate on the more contagious Delta variant, and urges people to get vaccinated as soon as possible to keep themselves from becoming seriously ill if they do contract the virus.  The positivity rate is back above six percent at 6.63 percent, the highest it has been in some time.

Deaths related to COVID-19 remain low, with two newly reported deaths reported Thursday—that puts the death toll for the state since the pandemic began at 7,308.

On the state incidence rate map, Christian County is still labelled as ‘orange’, with Todd County ‘yellow’ and Trigg County remaining ‘green’—Hopkins, Muhlenberg and Webster counties are ‘red’.
