Boys and Girls club celebrates youth, accomplishments at Great Futures Luncheon

It was a return to an in-person event with the Boys and Girls Club of Hopkinsville Great Futures Luncheon Wednesday, and attendees filled the gymnasium there to learn more about the impact the club has on youth in the community.

Executive Director Terrence Davis says the COVID-19 pandemic changed many things for the club, but now they’re beginning to recover and see more and more kids return—he says none of what they offer wouldn’t be possible without the generosity and compassion of the community.

Club member Quay Ward was named not only the Hopkinsville Youth of the Year, but also went on to win in competition the title of 2021 Kentucky State Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year.  He was presented an award during the luncheon, and says that if it wasn’t for family who loved him and the care of the club, which he has attended since a small child, he’s not sure where he would be.

He says this club is truly his home away from home.

Attendees were able to enjoy performances from the club’s dance team and choir, along with hearing from several club members about what the club means to them.

The club is always accepting of donations, with all funds going back into the club to support their many initiatives, classes, programs and technologies.  For more information on how to donate, contact the Boys and Girls Club at (270) 887-4020.
