In a Hopkinsville first, Friday night will be a competitive karaoke event that coincide with the Sounds at Six at Founder’s Square downtown.
Calling it “Hoptown Idol”, Superintendent Tab Brockman says it starts at 6 p.m. and the competition will slowly whittle down until they have an overall winner that will take home the $500 grand prize.
He says it’s a different sort of event for Hopkinsville, but he thinks it will be a lot of fun.
Brockman says you can vie for a spot in the finals by filming yourself singing a short song, and send it in to competition officials via the Parks and Recreation website.
People are encouraged to bring their own chairs and be ready to cheer on the competitors while enjoying food, beverages and fellowship with the community. For more information, call 270- 887-4290.
