Christian Co. Heart Walk set for June 19

After taking place virtually last year, the Christian County Heart Walk is set to take place on June 19 at the Western Kentucky State Fair Grounds.

Coordinator Suzanne Riley appeared on WHOP recently and says they’re very excited to have an in-person event again this year at the fairgrounds, which is participant friendly.

You can register for the walk by going online to heart.org—opening ceremonies will start at 8:45 a.m. on June 19 with the walk set to begin at 9 a.m. and they’ll be taking time to really honor survivors this year as they celebrate being together.

Riley says heart disease is the leading cause of death in the world, with stroke being the fifth leading cause. She says healthier life choices such as eating healthy, getting plenty of exercise and recognizing the signs of heart disease or stroke can help save lives.

Money raised by the local Heart Walk stays local and goes to fund medical research, advocacy and educational programs to help Americans become healthier.
