Unemployment down in all nine Pennyrile counties last month

Unemployment was down from March to April in all nine Pennyrile counties.

Christian County’s jobless rate was 4.3 percent, down from 5.7 percent in March and down from 19.1 percent when pandemic restrictions were at their peak.

It equated to 1,037 people who were looking for work and unable to find it.

Todd County is now tied for the second-lowest unemployment rate in Kentucky at 2.9 percent. That was down from 3.9 percent in March and from 11.7 percent a year ago.

The jobless rate in Trigg County was 4.2 percent, down from 5.5 percent in March and from 17.5 percent in April of 2020.

Muhlenberg County had the region’s highest unemployment rate at 5.5 percent.

The state average was 3.8 percent and the national number was 5.7 percent.
