Kentucky reports 2,437 new COVID cases, 14 more deaths

Governor Andy Beshear announced 2,437 new cases of COVID-19 and 14 more deaths Saturday.

A 74-year old Logan County man and a 73-year old Marshall County man were among the deaths and the state’s pandemic death toll now stands at 1,885.

Kentucky’s positivity rate is 8.95 percent, 1,722 Kentuckians are in the hospital with COVID, 408 are in the ICU and 220 are on a ventilator.

Christian, Todd and Trigg are among the 115 of Kentucky’s 120 counties still red on the state incidence rate map.

Kentucky Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack says, “Persistence is key to limiting the spread and preventing further COVID-19 related deaths. Don’t give in to mask fatigue. Wear your mask correctly. Vaccines are around the corner and may well be the weapon we need to defeat this illness; until then, every Kentuckian has to rise to this great challenge of our times to care for and protect each other by wearing masks, practicing social distancing, and staying home if you are sick.”

The Tennessee Department of Health announced 6,750 new cases and 15 additional deaths. The Volunteer State’s positivity rate is 15.38 percent and 2,233 patients are in the hospital.
