The Christian County Public School System will be temporarily suspending all extracurricular activities starting Thursday and going until November 20.
That includes all athletic, extracurricular, and any other after school activities, according to a news release from CCPS Spokesperson John Rittenhouse, and current fall sports activities will be allowed to complete their seasons during this period. The Caldwell County and Christian County football game that had been set from Friday has been cancelled.
Activities suspended are any school or district sponsored extracurricular activity including marching band, after school activities, tutoring and school trips and all winter and sports practices.
The vast majority of positive COVID-19 cases and quarantines in the school district have originated from extracurricular activities, according to officials, and the situation will be reassessed come November 20.
