Ky. gains 463 COVID-19 cases, nine new deaths

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced 462 new cases of COVID-19 during Sunday’s update, and nine new deaths.

That puts the overall number of cases in the Commonwealth at 48,032 and the death toll is up to 930. One of Sunday’s reported deaths is an 80-year old man from Calloway County. Seventy-nine of the newly reported cases were from children age 18 and younger, of which 13 were children ages 5 and under.

Governor Beshear says the past week was the largest increase of new cases in the state since the pandemic began.

He urged Kentuckians to keep working hard to lower those numbers, because although it seems the state has reached a new plateau, the number of cases coming in is still too high.

Due to limited reporting on Sundays, some information is unavailable until Monday, when the governor will host his live press conference.

The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting 835 new cases, up to 153,115, and 22 new deaths, up to 1,747. Montgomery County reported 15 new cases, Robertson County saw 16 new cases and Stewart County gained one new case.
