Alcohol is suspected as a factor in a head-on collision Sunday afternoon in Logan County that killed two people and injured three others.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office investigated and determined 57-year old Ross Hobbs of Lewisburg had been northbound on Lewisburg Road near the Muhlenberg County line about 5:20 p.m. when his pickup crossed into the southbound lane and struck a vehicle occupied by 54-year old Kenny Ferguson and 44-year old Michelle Ferguson of Browder and a two-year old child.
Kenny and Michelle Ferguson were pronounced dead at the scene and the two-year old was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Hobbs’ pickup continued rolling north, striking another vehicle occupied by 38-year old Rosanna Baatz of Russellville and 39-year old Ronald Grise of Dunmor. Baatz was transported to Logan Memorial Hospital for injuries.
Hobbs was ejected through the windshield of his pickup and was flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville in critical condition.
Police say alcohol and excessive speed are suspected as factors in the crash.
