Indictments were returned Friday morning against the man and woman arrested in May for child abuse after their child was found in an abandoned vehicle at Car Stop on East Ninth Street in Hopkinsville.
Twenty-three-year-old Nancy Heflin and 29-year old Johnathan Deloach were both indicted for public intoxication and first-degree criminal child abuse.
As previously reported, Hopkinsville police officers were called to investigate an abandoned SUV at Car Stop at 1410 East Ninth about 10:45 a.m. on May 2 and found the small child in the back seat alone.
Meanwhile, the grand jury indicted David Robert Johnson, Jr. for felony theft by deception, alleging he charged about $4,100 worth of auto parts to the account of BK Automotive at O’Reilly Auto Parts without their permission. The alleged activity happened between November of last year and February of 2020.
Two suspects—18-year old Antoniyon Cayce and 19-year old Isaiah Henderson of Hopkinsville—were indicted for the July 17 robbery of an 18-year old victim on Glass Avenue.
The victim told police he met Cayce in the 200 block of Glass Avenue about 1 a.m. to purchase three video games. An arrest citation says Cayce grabbed the victim, took his money and fled the scene on a moped driven by Henderson.
When the victim attempted to chase them, Cayce allegedly grabbed a handgun from his waistband and threatened to shoot him if he got any closer.
Cayce is with second-degree robbery, possession of marijuana and receiving a stolen firearm. Henderson is charged with complicity to second-degree robbery.
