After leading Austin Peay to a record best 11 wins in 2019, Mark Hudspeth announced his resignation as head coach Friday afternoon. In a news release, Hudspeth said he was leaving to spend more time with his wife and family and plans to return to coaching at the right time. Hudspeth was named OVC Coach of the Year and led the Governors to their second Ohio Valley Conference championship along with two wins in the FCS playoffs.

Athletic director Gerald Harrison stated the remainder of the Austin Peay football coaching staff will be retained and will lead the program while Harrison and his staff determine the next steps forward. Austin Peay’s football team is scheduled to begin organized team practices on July 31.
