The NCAA Division One Council officially endorsed the timetable Wednesday for college football to prepare for the season with most teams opening September 5th. College Basketball

College basketball coaches can soon begin working with their players for the upcoming season. The NCAA Division I Council approved a plan Wednesday that calls for coaches to work with men’s and women’s players beginning July 20th.

NBA

When NBA players report to Disney properties near Orlando to resume the season, they will be scrutinized intensely in a “bubble” environment to meet health standards. The NBA health and safety restart memo, which was obtained by CNBC, states players and essential staff will receive a “smart” ring, a Disney MagicBand, individual pulse oximeter and a smart thermometer to help monitor and reduce the spread of the coronavirus. The memo also states there is no opting out policy from health monitoring once a player is in Orlando. A player declining to adhere to daily checking may be required to vacate the premises permanently. The union has approved the plan. The league is also looking into a wearable small alarm device to aid in social distancing.

Horse Racing

Post positions were drawn Wednesday for Saturday’s Belmont Stakes, with Tix the Law the morning line favorite at 6-5. The horse will break from the number eight post position.
